Penny Day at the Museum

Grab a handful of pennies and head to the Kansas Museum of History for a day filled with activities for all ages. Any funds collected at this event will benefit the preservation of deteriorating Lincoln artifacts in the museum's collections.

  • Penny admission to the Museum throughout the day
  • Games - penny pitching, family scavenger hunt in gallery
  • Children's Activities - create a stovetop hat story book, birthday card for Lincoln, send advice to President Obama for his first 100 days, Kids Voting Kansas
  • Bring your camera - photo opportunity with our "Abraham Lincoln" and fun cutouts
  • Speakers will present on Lincoln topics in the museum classrooms
  • Book signing and presentation by Carol Dark Ayres, author of Lincoln and Kansas (copies may be purchased at the event)
  • Lincolns for Lincoln - purchase and personalize a Lincoln hat for $5 - funds go to preservation of Lincoln artifacts
  • Free Lincoln bicentennial poster (one per family, while supplies last)
  • Lincoln merchandise in the Museum Store
  • Lincoln in Kansas Exhibit
