You may designate a specific division (or fund) to support or you may give unrestricted. We urge you to view the online FY2007 annual report for how the Historical Society spent funds last year. Our ongoing needs include new exhibits at the Museum, Fort Hays, Grinter Place, and Goodnow House. We are also in need of additional acquisition, digitalization, and marketing funds. A 50 percent Kansas Tax Credit is available for gifts between $1,000 - $5,000 for the historic sites, with an annual limit, so please call Vicky Henley to make sure your donation meets the requirements. Did you know that. . .the Kansas Historical Society, founded in 1875, operates both as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) membership organization and a specially recognized society supported by state appropriations? The state agency operates with an annual appropriation of approximately six million dollars and more than 100 employees. The nonprofit corporation's 102-member board of directors and 15-member executive committee are responsible for the Society's overall governance.
