Gerald Roberts

Rodeo cowboy. Born: 1919. Died: 2005.

Gerald Roberts’ father was a rodeo producer and Gerald rode a lot of half-wild horses as a boy in Kansas. Gerald joined the rodeo circuit in the 1930s, competing in bull riding, bareback riding and saddle bronc riding. After 14 years he had won ten saddles, 40 gold and silver belt buckles and two rodeo world championships. He was All-Around World Champion Cowboy in 1942 and 1948. His brother Ken was the world champion  bull rider from 1943 through 1945, and was possibly the best bull rider of all time. His sister Marge was named to the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Gerald was elected to the Kansas All-Sports Hall of Fame.
