Kansas 150 SesquicentennialThe 150th anniversary of Kansas statehood will be a grassroots effort of Kansas communities, organizations, and agencies to mark the state's entry as the 34th state in the Union on January 29, 1861. The Governor's Cultural Affairs Council is coordinating planning efforts: Kansas African-American Affairs Commission, Kansas Arts Commission, Kansas Film Commission, Kansas Hispanic and Latino American Affairs Commission, Kansas Historical Society, Kansas Humanities Council, Kansas Travel and Tourism, and State Library of Kansas. This logo was introduced at the first brainstorming meeting August 21, 2009 and is available for the use of communities and organizations in the state to use in promoting events and programs. The logo may not be used by third parties at this time. Policies for the licensing for third party uses of the logo are still being determined. Vector artwork is available upon request. The next brainstorming meeting is 1 p.m. November 13, 2009, at the Kansas Historical Society, 6425 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka. The public is invited to participate in this grassroots effort.
