Adopt an Artifact

Consider adopting an artifact and preserve the stories of Kansas. The precious objects in the museum collection need careful attention and controlled humidity. When that is not enough, items may need conservation from an expert in the field. Discover more about these conservation projects and see success stories of artifacts adopted by donors who have saved precious pieces of Kansas history.

Successes

Sallie White portrait– the life-sized painting at Red Rocks State Historic Site in Emporia has been conserved.

Civil War flags– many of these important battle flags, now brittle with age, have received special care.

Needs

Abraham Lincoln umbrella– used to protect the president-elect during a storm, this item is now tattered.

Carry A. Nation dress– worn by the famous temperance leader, the dress is brittle with age.
