  • Born in Vermont
  • Joined the New England Emigrant Aid Society and moved to Kansas territory in 1854
  • Became associate editor of the Quindaro Chindowan, abolitionist newspaper
  • Campaigned for equal rights of women during the Wyandotte Constitutional Convention
