Explore by Region, Flint Hills
Here you'll find one of the last stands of true grassland that once stretched across the continent. In the state's mid-section you can view the lovely Smoky Hill River valley in the north, the rolling Flint Hills and tallgrass prairie through the center, and the colorful Gypsum Hills with steep, craggy buttes and level mesas in the south central. There are four state historic sites within this region.
