Gordon Parks
(1912-2006)
- Born in Fort Scott
- Moved to Chicago and purchased his first camera
- Became a nationally recognized photographer, author, poet, composer, and filmmaker
- Wrote The Learning Tree, based on his childhood in Kansas
- Later directed the story as a movie
