Discovery Place

What you'll see

Discovery Place opened in 1986 thanks to the efforts of the Junior League of Topeka. The gallery is filled with activities made to touch that teach and inspire an interest in Kansas history.

Discovery Place is designed for families with children through age nine. Adult supervision is required.

Children can explore the history of the Plains Indians and crawl into a tipi.

Children can visit a county fair and play carnival games.

Putting on a puppet show is fun and easy with the stage and Kansas Kritters puppets.

Children can ride the colorful carousel horse.

At Kramer Farm, young visitors can use their imagination to care for the fields and flocks.

They can "drive" tractors and farm trucks to the field.

Laura's Cabin offer a rack with pioneer clothes to try out.

Children can "cook" with a cast-iron stove and to learn about life in a little house on the Kansas prairie.

Outside the Discovery Place is the Cowboy Corral.

Children can dress up in boots, hats, and chaps, ride a "horse," gather round the "campfire," and "ride" a train.

Discovery Place is free to our visitors. Your donation toward its upkeep is greatly appreciated.
