Scope and content: Three dockets containing summaries of all actions taken in civil and criminal cases appearing before the justice of the peace of Little Caney Township. The volumes contain an alphabetical index organized by surname of plaintiff with corresponding page numbers. Civil cases are present among the first half while criminal cases comprise the second half of the volumes. The entries provide a record of court appearances showing case number, title and cause, attorneys, dates and nature of pleadings filed and writs issued, sheriff’s return, court orders, record of fees and costs, and summaries of judgment for each case. The civil cases mostly involve indebtedness or destruction of property. The criminal cases document more serious crimes of assault, battery, theft, and disturbing the peace. Provides a good synopsis of each case. The volumes are organized by date.
