Scope and content: Files containing Historical Records Survey identification forms documenting the Federal Writers' Project program of the same name. The project goal was the discovery, preservation, and listing of basic materials for research in state, county, and local Kansas archives. The forms document surveys of bound and unbound historical records. They state the records' location (county), county agency or office that created the records, records series title, dates, quantity, description, and notes on current order or indexing tools. The files for some counties may also contain transcripts from a given county's Board of County Commissioners minute books and journals. The topics in the minutes generally include elections, audits, and finance. The files are organized alphabetically by county name.
