Licenses Issued

Scope and content: Register of all types of licenses issued by the city of Topeka. Information listed includes license number, to whom issued, for what purpose, number of vehicles (when applicable), when issued, from date to expiration date, amount paid, length of time, license number to go to if renewed (when applicable), and remarks, which often contained the address for the business. Licenses were issued for selling types of insurance, peddling, offering public transportation (hack, wagon, etc.), various other business types such as a billiard table or telegraph office, etc. For the years 1870-1882 and 1887; one volume has an alphabetical index in the front and the 1887 volume is organized by type of license.
