Scope and content: Tax Sale Certificate and Assignment forms, issued by the County Treasurer, identifying land offered for sale by the County Treasurer to recover back taxes. If no one bid on the land when first offered, it was "bid out" by the Treasurer just for the taxes owed. The purchaser paid the back taxes, received the tax sale certificate and assignment form from the County Treasure, and was then entitled to a Tax Deed on the property. Each form contains: certificate number and date; description of land property sold; sale amount; tax years for which payment was owed by the original owner; name of purchaser who paid those back taxes and who then owned the land by tax deed.
