Scope and content: Microfilmed volumes and paper indexes of birth and death records in Marshall County, Kansas. The beginning birth records list names in alphabetical order with the date, book, page, and line number where the official entry can be found. Later birth records contain information such as birth number, date of return, name, race, date of birth, parent names and nationalities, and the name of the doctor who delivered the baby. Death records include death number, date of report, name, age, occupation, date of death, marital status, nationality, place of death, cause, duration of complication, burial place and date, and the name of the undertaker. The birth and death records are organized by number, with the exception of the earlier typed birth records which are alphabetical.
