Scope and content: Testamentary letters were one step in the process of disbursing an individual's estate after he or she died, for those individuals who made a will before dying. Letters state that the will and last testament of an individual has been admitted to probate, an individual named executor or executrix, and that he or she now has authority to dispense of all goods, property, rights and chattels and to collect all moneys due to estate and all other necessary things to wrap up the estate.
