Scope and content: Series consists of microfilmed volumes of patent records documenting the sale of public lands to various individuals in Butler County. The patents certify that the individual has deposited in the General Land Office (U.S.) a certificate of the register of the land office at Wichita and full payment for the land has been made. The patents relate to an April 24, 1820 "Act making further provision for the sale of public lands." The patents state the name of the individual purchasing the land along with a brief land description.
