Scope and content: Microfilmed volumes of tax deeds documenting the documenting the sale of real estate at public auction due to tax delinquency by the property owner. The sales are authorized by an 1891 act of Congress entitled "An act regulating the sale of real estate for delinquent taxes in such counties as shall adopt the provisions of this act." Entries state the name of the purchaser, the amount of taxes owed, and a statement certifying that all payments have been made. The deeds are notarized and completed by the County Clerk and signed by the Register of Deeds.
