Abstract: This collection contains records from Greenwood County, Kansas. The records date between 1868 and 1932. Almost all records are on microfilm. These include, from the County Treasurer, a delinquent tax sales volume dated 1876-1887; and several property tax assessment volumes dated 1868-1891. The only paper record is a justice docket for civil cases in Quincy Township, dated 1928-1932.

Administrative History

Administrative History: Greenwood County was established on August 25, 1855. It was named in honor of Alfred B. Greenwood (1811-1889), U.S. congressman from Arkansas and later commissioner of Indian Affairs. The county seat and most populous city is Eureka. Townships include Bachelor, Eureka, Fall River, Janesville, Lane, Madison, Otter Creek, Pleasant Grove, Quincy, Salem, Salt Springs, Shell Rock, South Salem, Spring Creek, and Twin Grove.
