Scope and content: Series consists of a variety of volumes recording information related to the probate process in Shawnee County. Includes inventory and appraisement records for decedents' estates, annual settlement records created by executors and guardians showing financial workings of estates, claims against estates, sales of property from decedents' and minors' estates, letters and bonds of administration/executorship/guardianship in which appointed administrator/executor/guardian is appointed to oversee estates, copies of last wills and testaments as well as letters testamentary in which witnesses agree that they were present at the signing of the will, etc. Journals of probate court proceedings (series 59708) are also dispersed on microfilm reels.
