Mike Pompeo
Politician. Republican. Born: December 30, 1963, in Orange California. Served in U.S. House of Representatives, 4th District: January 3, 2011, to January 23, 2017; director, Central Intelligence Agency, January 23, 2017, to April 26, 2018; U.S. Secretary of State, April 26, 2018, to present.
Mike Pompeo was born December 30, 1963, in Orange California. He attended the U.S. Military Academy majoring in mechanical engineering, graduating first in his class. He served as a cavalry officer in the U.S. Army before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Pompeo graduated from Harvard Law School, where he served as editor of the Harvard Law Review. Following graduation, he worked as an attorney in a law firm. Pompeo moved to the Wichita, Kansas, area in 1996 where he met his future wife and founded Thayer Aerospace. He sold his interest in the company in 2006 and became president of Sentry International, a company that manufactures and distributes oilfield equipment. He served as trustee on the Kansas Policy Institute. In November 2010 he defeated Raj Goyle, Democrat, Shawn Smith, Libertarian, and Susan G. Ducey, Reform Party, to be elected to serve Kansas’ fourth congressional district. President Donald Trump appointed Pompeo to serve as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency. He was sworn into office as the sixth CIA director on January 23, 2017. President Trump appointed him to U.S. Secretary of State. He assumed office on April 26, 2018.
