Stephen "Steve" Balderson
Stephen “Steve” Clark Balderson was born January 19, 1975, in Manhattan, Kansas. Balderson spent much of his childhood in Wamego, Kansas, but his family moved back to Manhattan during his high school years. Balderson graduated high school a semester early and then attended the California Institute of Arts to follow his dream of film directing. Although Balderson never completed his college career he has gone on to produce 12 films, including Pep Squad and Wamego: Making Movies Anywhere. Balderson’s debut film, Pep Squad, is a satire about school violence. Balderson’s best-known film is Firecracker, which was nominated for the Jury Prize for Best Picture during its debut at the Raindance Film Festival in London, England. Firecracker has also won many other awards at film festivals across the country.
