What Do I Have Control Over?

I pray that I have a bank that will ride the times with me. I look at farming as "What do I have control over?" I don't have control over the weather. I don't have control over what my crop will be worth at harvest time or when I actually have it, but I do have control over what I spend on inputs, what I actually spend to raise my family, what I spend on equipment costs. . . .

I once saw a commercial on TV where a guy was standing there saying he wanted the toughest job you could find, and that's why he joined the Marines. And every time I saw that commercial I said, "Well, why didn't you become a farmer?"

"Harvest Tales" is part of the online exhibit, Wheat People:  Celebrating Kansas Harvest.
