Membership/Giving LevelsThe Kansas State Historical Society is awash with new and exciting advancements and activity. Help us to continue to remodel our museums, educate children, make important finds in archaeology, further historical scholarship, and so much more. Help us celebrate grand openings at Kaw Mission and Last Chance Store in Council Grove, and at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka. Your generosity honors Kansans and prepares us for the future. Be a part of all that’s grand and all that’s going on all across the State at the Society.

In keeping with that spirit of philanthropy exhibited by our members, the Executive Committee approved the Membership Committee’s “giving levels” last December. The Membership Committee’s efforts began some years ago with the realization that individual dues had not increased since 2003. With “giving levels,” members will have the option of joining or renewing at higher payment levels. Alternatively, members may join for $35 a year in an amount even lower than the dues set in 2003. For the first time, membership discounts at any individual level will be available for teachers, students, and librarians. If you wish to join at the Patron or Builder Level and do not choose to give them as gifts yourself, you may donate your gift memberships back to the Foundation to be assigned to a person on a fixed income, a struggling student, or other person in need but in want of the journal. Just let us know. Of course, all members are entitled to participate in Foundation governance and attend our annual meeting held the first Friday in November. All members will receive discounts at our retail locations and online and be subscribed to the Foundation newsletter—a new publication exclusively for members.

Purchase Membership via Museum Store OnlinePlease note that our publishing contract for the print edition of the Kansas History journal expired last year. We hope to renew the contract for the print edition. Please show your support for the scholarly and beautiful print edition of the journal by joining at or above the Associate level. The number of those who join at or above the Associate level will help us determine whether we can afford the higher costs of publishing, whether we should digitize it, or whether we need to explore even other options.

Learning our history helps problem-solve in the present. Make a difference and be a member!

We recognize that switching to giving levels may seem complicated at first.  If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to call us, and we will gladly walk you through the steps or arrange for your membership over the phone.  You are important to us, and we value your time and your involvement.  Call us, and we will make it simple. Contact our membership coordinator, Caryn Kramer, 785-272-8681, ext. 209; membership@kshistory.org.
