Nomination Deadlines

Review Process:
Whether prepared by private citizens or by consultants, most nominations go through at least two drafts before consideration by the Historic Sites Board of Review (HSBR) at one of its quarterly meetings. SHPO staff will provide written comments and a marked copy of the nomination to the preparer.

Before a nomination is scheduled for a Review Board meeting, the following three requirements must be met:

  1. Property has been evaluated for eligibility by SHPO (see List a Property)
  2. An initial draft has been reviewed by SHPO
  3. The final submittal incorporates suggested revisions, if applicable

Meeting Schedule
Nominations of Kansas properties to the National Register of Historic Places and/or the Register of Historic Kansas Places may be submitted for review by the National Register staff at the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) at any time throughout the year. Every nomination must go before the Historic Sites Board of Review.
