Prostitution Timeline

1868

Kansas state law makes it illegal to keep a brothel.

1910

United State Congress passes the Mann Act in an attempt to stop forced prostitution.

1917

During World War 1, Kansas begins the quarantine of persons with venereal diseases.

1971

Nevada legalizes its first brothel.

 

Sinners & Saints is an online exhibit developed by the Kansas Museum of History.
